Durante varias semanas vi en las redes sociales que se anunciaba la llegada de Buenos Aires Fashion Week y sabía que no era algo que me debía perder, es la oportunidad para conocer de cerca la propuesta de los diseñadores argentinos para esta primavera-verano.
Como la historia nos cuenta; el primer Fashion Week que se celebró en el mundo, fue en Nueva York en 1943, organizado por Eleanor Lambert (creadora de CFDA) y fue llamado «Semana Editorial» ya que era una manera de presentar las colecciones a los periodistas. Tuvo tanta fama que se comenzó a realizar en las ciudades más cosmopolitan del mundo (París, Milán, Londres y por supuesto Nueva York). En América Latina, el Fashion Week se celebra en Brasil, Panamá, Colombia y en Buenos Aires (entre lo más conocidos).
A través del tiempo los desfiles iban dirigidos a periodistas y compradores, hoy en día, muchos de los Fashion Weeks que se organizan, la entrada tiene un costo o depende de la invitación del diseñador.
Si bien, esto es así, en esta oportunidad en Buenos Aires, a pesar de que hubo muchos eventos exclusivos con invitación, se celebraron 3 días de desfiles que se podía entrar de forma gratuita, quién quisiera, en el Pabellón 8 de la Rural, lo cual me parece una buena forma para llevar la moda al público en general y que quizás en cierta forma no compra; pero si comparte en sus redes sociales lo que le da mayor visibilidad a la marca y es una forma de que el ciudadano participe en eventos culturales de la ciudad. Como dijo Gianni Versace «Nuestro trabajo debería hacer soñar a la gente.» y creo que muchos de los que fuimos nos sentimos así.
For several weeks the arrival of Buenos Aires Fashion Week was announced in social media and I knew it was something that I shouldn’t miss. It was the opportunity to get to know the proposal of the designers here in Argentina for this spring-summer.
As history tells us; the first Fashion Week to be held in the world, was in New York in 1943, organized by Eleanor Lambert (creator of CFDA) and was called «Editorial Week» as it was a way to present the collections to journalists. It had so much fame that it began to be held in cosmopolitan cities of the world (Paris, Milan, London and of course New York). In Latin America, Fashion Weeks are celebrated in Brazil, Panama, Colombia and in Argentina (among the best known).
Over the time, the fashion shows were directed to journalists and buyers and now many of the the entrance has a cost on many of the Fashion Weeks or depends on the invitation of the designer.
Although this is true, this time in Buenos Aires, there were 3 days of runways that could you could go for free. This seems to me, a good way to bring fashion to the general public and that even thought, they may not buy the clothes, I think they may share everything in social media, so it gives more visibility to the brand. Also I think it is a nice way to promote the participation of citizens in cultural events.
As Gianni Versace said «Our work should make people dream.» and I think many of us that went there, felt that way.
Sobre el look que utilicé…
Admito que no preparé mis looks para estos tres días de moda y que fueron pensados los mismo días del desfile (lección aprendida: para el futuro me organizaré más). Como muchos saben, dejé muchas de mis prendas en Venezuela y al mudarme he aprendido a vivir con poca ropa y aunque quisiera comprara ropa, no puedo hacer eso todo el tiempo, así que es una forma para desarrollar mi creatividad para reutilizar lo que tengo en mi clóset.
En mi interior quería usar la tendencia de las transparencias, si ven las fotos se darán cuenta que este es uno de los vestidos que utilicé en el blog (AQUÍ ) como top. Siempre he dicho que si el vestido no es muy largo y no crea tanto bulto al ponerte el pantalón, puedes reutilizarlo como si fuera un top. Además que no podía ir en vestido porque estamos en invierno. El resultado me gustó mucho, el negro nunca falla y agregué un Trench Coat para cubrirme si hacía frío.

About my look …
I admit that I did not prepare my looks for these three days of fashion and that I decided what to wear the same day of the Fashion Shows (note to myself: for the future I will organize more).
As many know, I left many of my clothes in Venezuela and when I moved here I learned to live with less clothes and even though sometimes I want to buy clothes, I can not do that all the time, so it is a way to develop my creativity to reuse what I have in my closet
I wanted to wear the trend of transparencies, if you see the photos you will realize that this is one of the dresses I used in the blog (HERE) as top. I have always said that if the dress is not very long and does not create as hump by putting under your pants, then you can reuse it as a top. Also I could not wear a dress because we are in winter. I really liked the result, the black never fails and I added a Trench Coat to cover me if it was cold.

Sobre los desfiles…
El primer día pude ver todos los desfiles que se presentaron, unos en primera fila, otros de lejos, pero igual feliz de vivir la experiencia de ver las colecciones.
El primer desfile que fui, fue el de TERMA, al principio no entendía porque era una colección proveniente de una marca de limonadas y jugos ( que por cierto, bastantes me dieron de probar y me fascinaron); luego fue que averiguando, comprendí que el año pasado Terma hizo un concurso para jóvenes diseñadores que consistía en diseñar una colección sustentable con poco impacto en el medio ambiente, así que este año presentaron su colección las ganadoras Juana Della Paolera y Carolina Ceballos. El nombre de la colección cápsula es «NIDO» y las prendas eran hechas con algodón orgánico, tintas naturales y accesorios hechos de corcho ¡Muy interesante!
Let’s talk about the runways…
The first day of all the fashion shows that were presented, I saw them some in the front row, others from afar, but any way, I was just thrilled to live the experience of seeing the collections.
The first fashion runway was from TERMA, at the beginning I didn’t get why it was a collection coming from a brand of lemonades and juices (that by the way, I tasted some samples and were delicious) but after searching, I found out that last year Terma made a contest for young designers that consisted in designing a sustainable collection with little impact on the environment. So this year the winners Juana Della Paolera and Carolina Ceballos, presented their capsule collection named «NIDO». All the garments were made with organic cotton, natural inks and accessories made of cork. Very interesting!

Los segundos fueron de diseñadores emergentes y ganadoras del concurso de Autores de Moda y con colecciones muy interesantes. Para hacer este post, admito que hice mis investigaciones porque una cosa es ver colecciones por primera vez y pensar solo si te parecen lindas o no, y otra, comprender el trasfondo conceptual.
Primero se presentó Alter BA, una propuesta urbana que muestra chaquetas, vestidos, chalecos, tops y shorts de forma superpuesta, no solo las prendas sino el uso de telas, entre ellas muy interesante las telas transparentes con estampados con letras. Según lo que leí, las diseñadoras Candela Villanueva, Sofía Alvarez y Victoria Bianchi Plaza se inspiraron en una obra artística y cinematográfica argentina para explorar «el concepto de la dualidad entre lo real y la copia, la idea de la proyección».
The second fashion show was from emerging designers and winners of the competition of «Autores de Moda» and with very interesting collections. To do this post, I admit that I did my research because it is one thing to see collections for the first time and think only if they seem pretty or not, and another, to understand the conceptual background.
Alter BA was first; an urban proposal that shows jackets, dresses, vests, tops and shorts in a superimposed form, not only the garments; but also the use of fabrics, among them, I thought very interesting to mix transparent fabrics with prints with letters. According to what I read, the designers Candela Villanueva, Sofía Alvarez and Victoria Bianchi Plaza were inspired by an Argentine artistic and cinematographic work to explore «the concept of the duality between the real and the copy, the idea of projection.»

El desfile que le continuó, ya que se presentaron juntos, fue el de UMBRAL, la verdad que una colección desde mi punto de vista preciosa, el mix de materiales que utilizaron para su colección es algo que nunca había visto, por lo que vi y averigüé trabajaron con fieltro y tul y es interesante ver una propuesta como esa.
La verdad profundizaría más pero las diseñadoras me han dado la oportunidad de conocer más de cerca su trabajo así que muy pronto les traigo todos los detalles.
The runway that continued, as they were presented together, was the one of UMBRAL. A beautiful collection, the mix of materials they used is something I had never seen, so I found out they worked with felt and tulle.
The truth is I would talk more deeply about the collection, but the designers have given me the opportunity to know more about their work, so soon I will bring you all the details.

Continuamos con MIS INTIMOS AMIGOS, aunque en varios de los desfiles anteriores hubo prendas para caballeros, es bueno que se haya presentado una marca exclusiva para hombres. La verdad que muy buena la propuesta, desde ropa casual con toque deportivo hasta trajes más formales. Además bolsos y accesorios que creo que hasta una chica quisiera.
We continue with MIS INTIMOS AMIGOS, although in several of the previous runways there were articles for gentlemen, it is good that a brand exclusively for men was presented. A very good proposal, from casual clothes with sports vibes to more formal suits. Plus handbags and accessories that I think even a girl would like.

Admito que ALEN es una de las marcas que más he seguido desde que llegue a Buenos Aires, su propuesta de los 90 me encanta y las prendas oversize. Que mejor forma de mostrar tu colección que con las modelos argentinas famosas de los 90. Yo por supuesto sentada en el público no entendía mucho las ovaciones a las modelos, porque no las conocía, pero un amigo me explicó y me pareció fabuloso. Esta colección tiene colores como el negro, el rojo, fucsia, el amarillo, entre otros con piezas básicas que le hacen homenaje al street style urbano, deportivo, sastrero y workwear.
I admit that ALEN is one of the brands I have followed since coming to Buenos Aires,I love it’s 90s proposal and oversize garments. What better way to show your collection than with the famous Argentinian models of the 90s. I, of course, sitting in the audience didn’t understand much the ovations to the models, because I did not know them, but a friend explained to me who they were and I found it fabulous. This collection has colors such as black, red, fucsia, yellow, among others with basic pieces that pay tribute to the urban street style, sportswear and workwear.

Después de muchos desfiles, no se como tuve la energía para hacer la cola para ver el desfile de Kosiuko (el cual era a las 9 de la noche, pero se retrasó un poco), pero en mi cabeza solo pensaba que no es momento de rendirse, aunque los tacones te duelan la moda se vive hasta el último minuto (un poco dramático este comentario).
KOSIUKO es una marca más comercial, en esta oportunidad se presentó la nueva colección primavera-verano llamada «Love». Aunque sea comercial, el estilismo estuvo hermoso, las modelos llevaron la ropa con mucha actitud y realmente que me quedé deseando muchas de las piezas. Vienen faldas con volados, pantalones de rayas, chaquetas y pantalones metalizados, buzos de lentejuelas, «off shoulders» y el accesorio que más destacó para mi, fueron las riñoneras.
After many fashion shows, I don’t know where I got the energy to see the runway of Kosiuko (which was at 9 pm but was delayed a bit), but in my head I thought it was not time to give up , even though my feet hurt thanks to the heels, fashion must be lived until the last minute (a little dramatic this comment).
KOSIUKO is a more commercial brand, this time the new spring-summer collection called «Love» was presented. The styling was beautiful, the models carried the clothes with a lot of attitude and really I was wishing many of the garments . We will see floppy skirts, striped pants, jackets and metallic pants, sequin sweaters, «off shoulders» and the accessory that most stood out for me, were the fanny packs.

Cuando llegué a mi casa, lo que hice fue cenar y directo a la cama, nunca había ido a un Fashion Week y creo que a pesar de toda la moda y el glamour pareciera de verdad un deporte. Entre hacer fotos y correr de un desfile a otro uno termina agotado, pero de verdad las palabras Gianni Versace son muy ciertas, al final del día la moda nos hace soñar.
When I got home, I ate dinner and got to bed, I had never been to a Fashion Week and I think that despite all the fashion and glamor it really feels like a sport. Between taking photos and running from one show to another, you end up exhausted, but the words Gianni Versace really are very true, at the end of the day, fashion makes us dream.
