¡Y al fin llegaron los Juegos Olímpicos Río 2016! Aunque este sea un tema completamente deportivo, está en mi naturaleza encontrar aspectos sobre la moda que vale la pena comentar. Grandes firmas importante se encargaron de crear los uniformes de los atletas y ¿Por qué no?, además de apoyar a las delegaciones que representan a cada país, es una buena estrategia de mercadeo para que las marcas de ropa sean nombradas en unos de los eventos más visto en todo el mundo.
Rio 2016 Olympic Games have finally arrived! Although this is a completely sporty theme, it is in my nature to find fashion aspects worth commenting. Big important fashion firms were commissioned to create the uniforms of athletes and; why not? Besides supporting the delegations representing each country, it is a great marketing strategy so the brands could be named in one of the most watched events worldwide.

Brasil x Nike:

¡Obviamente tenía que comenzar hablando sobre los anfitriones de los Juegos Olímpicos! Nike diseñó los distintos uniformes que utilizará la selección de brasil para cada deporte y creo que se ven muy bien representados con sus colores y además se ve serio y elegante a pesar de ser ropa deportiva. Por otro lado, no quería dejar pasar el traje de gala que utilizaron para la inauguración, el cual fue diseñado por una estilista brasilera llamada Lenny Niemeyer. Ella quiso mostrar a través de los estampados la flora y fauna de la mejor forma posible y buscaba que se sintieran ligeros y cómodos.
Obviously I had to start talking about the hosts of the Olympic Games! Nike designed the different uniforms that will be used by the selection of Brazil for each sport and I think they are very well represented with their colors and they look serious and elegant despite the fact that we are talking about sportswear. On the other hand, I did not want to ignore the gala uniform used for the inauguration, which was designed by a Brazilian stylist call Lenny Niemeyer. She wanted to create a print that represents the flora and fauna in the best way possible and she was looking that the delegation could feel light and comfortable.
Cuba x Christian Louboutin/Sporty Henri:

¡Pues Chanel no fue la única firma que aprovechó el gran auge de Cuba! El francés Christian Louboutin no perdió la oportunidad de diseñar el uniforme junto a Sporty Henri para la ceremonia de gala de los Juegos Olímpicos. Me pareció que con este uniforme el equipo de Cuba se ve bastante elegante y bien representados con los colores de la bandera y la estrella. Pero no se puede dudar que la mejor parte de todo el outfit son los zapatos, están increíbles.
Well Chanel was not the only company that took advantage of the boom in Cuba! Frenchman Christian Louboutin did not miss the opportunity to design the uniform with Henri Sporty for the gala ceremony of the Olympic Games. I think the Cuban uniform looks quite elegant and well represented with the colors of the flag and the star. But you can not doubt that the best part of the whole outfit are the shoes, they are amazing.

Al parecer Ralph Lauren ha diseñado para las Olimpíadas desde el 2008 y sinceramente no hay mejor marca que represente a Estados Unidos. El uniforme es súper clásico pero no puedo con la modernidad de las chaquetas, al parecer por detrás se utilizó una tecnología que hace que las letras de «USA» se iluminen ¿Qué les parece esto?
Apparently Ralph Lauren has designed for the Olympics since 2008 and honestly there is no better brand to represent the United States. The uniform is super classic but I can’t believe the modernity of the jackets, apparently they had a technology that makes the letters of «USA» to light up. What do you think of this?
Canada X Dsquared

¡Debo admitir que compraría demasiado esta ropa! Me parece que de todos los equipos son los que se ven más trendy. Los diseñadores canadienses Dean y Dan Caten, crearon un estilo moderno y sporty chic con estos uniformes utilizando los colores típicos y símbolos icónicos de Canadá (como la hoja) y acertaron con los zapatillas blancas.
I must admit that I would definitely buy these clothes! I think that of all the teams, the Canadian delegation looked the most trendy. The Canadians, Dean and Dan Caten created a modern style and sporty chic with these uniforms using the typical colors and iconic symbols of Canada (such as the leaf) and they matched perfectly with these white sneakers.
Suecia X H&M

Si no lo sabían H&M nació en Suecia y por supuesto iba a hacerle los uniformes a la delegación sueca. Lo interesante de esta colección es que está hecha con materiales reciclables como el polyester. Además, para este verano crearon una colección dedicada a las Olimpíadas y que además la imagen de campaña será nada más y nada menos que Caitlyn Jenner.
If you didn’t know, H&M was born in Sweden and of course would create the uniforms of the Swedish delegation. The interesting thing about this collection is that it is made of recyclable materials such as polyester. In addition, this summer H&M create a collection dedicated to the Olympics and also the campaign image will be nothing more and nothing less than Caitlyn Jenner.
Francia X Lacoste

Lacoste vistió a la delegación de Francia y aunque las fotos de la campaña me parecieron geniales, la ropa no es tan arriesgada como pudo ser. Se utilizaron lo colores de la bandera de manera sobria, luciendo chic y simples llevando el espíritu de la marca. Sin embargo, el director artístico de la marca afirmó que más allá de lucir bien, se enfocaron en la practicidad de los uniformes y que los jugadores se sintieran cómodos.
Lacoste dressed the delegation of France and although I loved the photos of the campaign, for me, the clothes were not as risky as they could be. The colors of the flag were used soberly, looking chic and simple bringing the spirit of the brand. However, the artistic director of the brand confirmed that beyond looking good, they focused on the practicality of the uniforms and that the players and athletes could feel comfortable.
Australia X Sportcraft

Creo que la delegación de Australia fueron los que disfrutaron más su uniforme de gala y ¿por qué no? lucen muy bien (aunque una parte de mí siente que parece un uniforme escolar). El dato que me gustó fue que por dentro de la chaqueta tienen escrito todos los nombres de los jugadores y atletas australianos que han ganado medallas de oro a través de los años.
I think the delegation of Australia enjoyed very much their uniform and why not? They look great! (though a part of me feels like it looks like a school uniform). I loved the fact that inside the jacket it has written all the names of the australian players and athletes who have won gold medals through the years.

Ojo, siempre estaré orgullosa de la delegación venezolana que nos representa y que tengamos la oportunidad de participar en este tipo de eventos. Sin embargo, tengo críticas porque se que podemos crear mejores cosas porque en este país hay muchísimo talento. Me gustó el color que se escogió y las chaquetas, pero los bordados mezclando el amarillo, azul y rojo me confunden porque parece un carnaval y siento que nada combina. Hay tantos elementos venezolanos que se pudieron utilizar y se pudo lograr algo elegante y más sencillo. A pesar de que lleven los colores dela bandera no siento que diga «Esto es Venezuela» ¿Qué piensan ustedes?
I will always be proud of the Venezuelan delegation that represent us and that we have the opportunity to participate in such important event. However, I have critics because we can create better things because in this country there is a lot of talent. I liked the color that was chosen and the jackets, but the embroideries mixing yellow, blue and red confused me because it looks like a carnival and it feels that nothing matches. There are so many venezuelan elements that could be used and they could achieved something elegant and simple. Despite bearing the flag colors I didn’t see anything that could make me identify «This is Venezuela». What do you think?
